Collimation Circles 3.2.0 stable is out

Finally! Long awaited stable release of Collimation Circles 3.2.0 is out! This version is significant milestone, because it brings some very useful new features, better performance and startup times.

This version is the best version of Collimation Circles yet! It's considered stable for daily use.

 

Some of most important changes are:

  • Implemented build-in support for web camera preview in background
    • this eliminates the need for additional video streaming software from your camera
    • includes controls fro brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, etc.
    • you can now plug camera while application is running and simply refresh camera list
  • Added Windows arm64 support
  • Minor UI tweaks
  • AvaloniaUI 11.1.0 with better performance and startup time
  • Resource handling improvements

Built-in support for camera preview

To use new camera preview feature, start Collimation Circles, go to "Tools" tab and hit start button in "Camera video stream" tool box. If you don't see your camera make sure it's plugged in and then hit refresh button. You should now see your camera in "Select camera" drop down.

This feature supports USB cameras, Raspberry Pi cameras and remote video.

You can drag Collimation Circles main window around and video preview window will follow. If you don't want that, simply uncheck "Pin to main window" check box and video preview window will stop following CC main window.

 

Why video preview feature is important?

Main purpose of Collimation Circles application is achieve near perfect telescope collimation. To do that you need video stream on your computer to help you see and successfully identify parts of telescope optical tube. Then you can use Collimation Circles application to mark thise parts and align them as much as possible.

Only perfectly aligned parts of optical tube gives you sharp pictures when you do your astro-photography sessions.
